RISE Challenge Colorado Finals

A showcase of Colorado youth action projects to improve community resilience to natural hazards! Tune in as we award up to $1,000 to these incredible students.

Sharing Power: Youth Influence in Environmental Action

Join an exciting all-youth panel to hear how young people navigate power dynamics in their path to taking action!

Moderated by Lauren Gibson, Ph.D., who serves as the first-ever advisor on youth engagement to the NOAA administrator. In this role, she leads the agency’s efforts to bring youth perspectives into agency decision-making while also working to smooth out NOAA career pathways for young professionals.

Caring for Our Watersheds Chesapeake Bay Finals

Join us for the Finals Ceremony and Celebration of Environmental Action Civics in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. We will award prize money up to $1,000 and hear from students about their experiences.

RISE Challenge Big Sky Finals - In Person

Held at the Cymatic Event Center in Missoula, MT! Awards will be presented to the top five (5) winning proposals, determined on summit day as a combined score of the written proposal and summit day presentation. Prizes range from $1,000 for 1st place to $300 for 5th place.

The RISE Challenge is a partnership between Earth Force and FEMA, implemented by local hosts with student prize money provided by the ASFPM Foundation.

Environmental Education & Civic Engagement: Deep-dive expert panel

Join this expert panel to explore how environmental education can foster civic engagement, catalyzing community and ecosystem well-being, environmental justice, and equitable governance. The panel is organized by Cornell University and NAAEE, and features several panelists, including Earth Force's Taylor Ruffin.

RISE Challenge Illinois Finals

Students in the RISE Challenge have been working hard to develop projects to increase resilience to natural hazards! Join virtually as we award the top projects with prize money.

The RISE Challenge is a partnership between Earth Force and FEMA, implemented by local hosts with student prize money provided by the ASFPM Foundation.

Show Me the Money! Highlighting Green School Participatory Budgeting as an opportunity for youth to lead and engage in a democratic process towards local sustainability initiatives.

Join us as we explore how youth are engaged in making decisions on their school budget! We will discuss School Participatory Budgeting (School PB) with folks from Arizona State University's Participatory Governance Initiative and the Center for the Future of Arizona. We will hear about the alignment of the School PB process with the key experiences of Environmental Action Civics. We will also hear how youth engage in School PB processes on their campuses, particularly the impacts of taking action in partnership with adults and how students are centering well-being and sustainability in their project ideas.
