Earth Force Receives $25,000 from Xcel Energy

Posted on January 16, 2020January 16, 2020 by Vince Meldrum - Earth Force President/CEO

Special grant program honors company’s 150 years of service in Colorado

Earth Force is excited to announce that we have received a $25,000 grant from Xcel Energy as part of the company’s Employee Choice Grants and 150th anniversary in Colorado. To commemorate 150 years of operations, the company awarded $150,000 to six Colorado-based nonprofit organizations and asked employees to vote and select six nonprofit organizations from a list of 13 finalists.

This special grant will allow us to increase our reach in Colorado expanding youth using civic engagement to solve environmental problems across the state. “Our staff is incredibly excited with this opportunity to ensure that young people have the opportunity to be a part of civic decision making in their community. We are proud to work with Xcel Energy and excited to join in this 150th Anniversary celebration,” announced Sarah Pacheco, Earth Force’s Chief Operating Officer.

We’d like to congratulate the other five recipients: American Red Cross, Colorado Youth Corps Association, Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver, Salvation Army, and the Nature Conservancy. All of the organizations align with Xcel Energy’s key company priorities: keeping bills low, reliability, and leading the clean energy transition – all of which enhance the customer experience.

“Our employees look forward to the Employee Choice Grant every year. To be able to award six outstanding nonprofits $25,000 each in recognition of our sesquicentennial makes it even more special,” says Alice Jackson, president of Xcel Energy—Colorado. “These grants allow us to better serve our customers here in Colorado and to continue building the future of our communities.”

Xcel Energy, a top corporate philanthropist in the State of Colorado as recognized by the Denver Business Journal, has awarded $230,000 to 10 organizations through its Employee Choice Grants program, since it began in 2015.
