In Pittsburgh, Earth Force celebrated their summit at the Pittsburgh Zoo over two days on April 21 and 22nd. Nearly 600 kindergarten – eighth grade students participated. Partners such as CCI, DEP, Phipps Conservatory, Carnegie Museum of Natural History and Allegheny Cleanways introduced the students to different environmental issues. After each Summit, students received Earth Force certificates and enjoyed the zoo.
On Earth Day in Erie, students celebrated at Fort LeBoeuf Middle School with their parents and at Presque Isle State Park with various workshop presenters. Part of the students presentations were two video productions which soon can be viewed on our Resource page .
Students at Park Forest Elementary School, State College will celebrate their summit in June.
The student projects covered a wide range of topics such as proper disposal of pharmaceuticals, storm drain management, composting, endangered species and energy conservation.
And there is more to do - we, the staff at LEA Earth Force, are looking forward to assisting students and teachers in greening their schools during the next school year!
