Date: 9 Oct 2008

Location: Louisville

Louisville, October 9, 2008 -- McStain Neighborhoods, Colorado's leader in green homebuilding, has selected Front Range Earth Force and Impact on Education as this year's recipients of the McStain/Hoyt Foundation annual grants. Front Range Earth Force will receive $7,500 and Impact on Education will receive $3,000.

"Earth Force and Impact on Education are two deserving organizations that strive to educate and enhance the lives of local students," said Caroline Hoyt, co-founder of McStain Neighborhoods. "Both of these organizations have found different ways to empower children by connecting them with their environment. Some of their stories were so powerful, they brought tears to my eyes! We are so pleased to be a small part of the great work they do."

The McStain/Hoyt Foundation looks for organizations that share McStain's pursuit of "Building a Better World."

Earth Force is a national non-profit organization that engages young people as active citizens who improve the environment and their communities. Young people get hands-on, real-world opportunities to practice civic skills, acquire and understand environmental knowledge, and develop the skills and motivation to become life-long leaders in addressing environmental issues.

"We at Earth Force are thrilled to be a recipient of the McStain/Hoyt Foundation grant," said Lisa Bardwell, executive director of Earth Force. "It is important to educate young people on the environmental issues we face today so they can better address them in the future, and we are excited to receive this grant from a foundation that shares our commitment to the environment."

Impact on Education is a community partnership for the Boulder Valley School District. In its 25th year, Impact on Education focuses its support on creating opportunities for "at-risk" students, increasing interest and learning in science, technology & math and motivating and supporting excellent teachers. The McStain/Hoyt Foundation grant will help fund creative, hands-on classroom projects that enhance the curriculum and bring learning to life.

"We are excited and so appreciative to have been selected to receive the McStain/Hoyt Foundation grant," said Francie Anhut, CEO of Impact on Education. "This is a great way to encourage teachers to undertake creative learning approaches to turbo-charge education."

The McStain/Hoyt Foundation gives funding to projects that benefit communities where McStain is currently building. The McStain/Hoyt Foundation's annual grant program is open to qualified non-profit organizations that promote land or resource use that enhances the environment; or organizations that provide an educational program emphasizing land resource appreciation, environmental sustainability and stewardship.
